Race Splits: DQ
Race Results: DQ
Again an unfortunate race for me as I was not able to complete the bike leg of the race due to a puncture at the back end of the bike. I got a DSQ but still finished the run to make sure I still get some training benefit out of this race.
I was in a very good position to go for an overall podium after coming out of the water in 5th position and making my way up to 3rd on the bike when the puncture happened and I had to roll back into Transition.
Had a good and solid swim. ~22min, coming out in 5th position. Pushed hard on the bike from the start as I felt really good and knowing that this could be my day. After getting close to the leading riders I got a puncture and was forced to slow down. That was it. I didn't fix the puncture and was rolling my bike back into transition where I decided to finish the run. Starting in 5th position I was able to run a solid 10km, overtaking the first 5 guys. Ran a 10km PB without pushing to the limit. That was a good confidence boost and my positive take away from this race. I feel fit, fresh and have some speed and strength in my legs.
I need to investigate my tires and wheel set though because this was the 2nd time in a race that I have had a puncture. I also had a puncture the previous week on a training ride. This is not normal. Once I sort out the mechanical issue I think my luck will return and I can finally produce a great result.
